Kolkata, Feb. 21 -- Former West Bengal Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar has served a legal notice on union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar, accusing him of making defamatory, false and malicious remarks that allegedly caused serious damage to his reputation, dignity and professional standing.

The legal notice, sent through Rajeev Kumar's lawyer on January 30, alleges that Sukanta Majumdar, while addressing multiple political meetings across the state ahead of the Assembly elections, repeatedly made objectionable statements against the former police chief.

According to the notice, these remarks were not only baseless but were also deliberately designed to tarnish Rajeev Kumar's image in the public domain.
