Asansol, June 8 -- The statement of Durgapur East BJP MLA, Chandrasekhar Banerjee, to kill those accused of Sunday's gang rape incident in a hotel in West Bengal's Durgapur district, through police encounters, has triggered a political row. The legislator has also urged the state's home minister and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, to consider his proposal.

The four accused were produced in a court on Monday amidst agitation and sloganering by BJP supporters. The Durgapur Court has sent them to five days' police custody.
