Siliguri, July 20 -- West Bengal's Malda district presented a contrasting political picture on the eve of July 21, with the Congress intensifying its mobilisation for its Martyrs' Day programme in Kolkata, while a dissident faction of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) announced an internal probe into alleged irregularities in the distribution of party tickets during the 2023 panchayat elections.
The Congress, which retains a strong organisational base in the traditional strongholds of Malda and Murshidabad, has launched an extensive campaign to ensure a large turnout at its Martyrs' Day programme near Shaheed Minar in Kolkata on Tuesday.
