Kolkata, July 3 -- The South 24 Parganas district administration on Thursday demolished an allegedly illegal riverside cafe owned by Imran Molla, son of former Trinamool Congress MLA Saokat Molla, in Moukhali under West Bengal's Canning East, after the owners failed to remove the structure despite being served with a notice.
The cafe, named "Aranyer Kule", had allegedly been constructed by encroaching on government land on a char (riverine sandbar) along the Matla River. The structure had recently drawn widespread attention on social media, prompting administrative scrutiny.
