Krishnagar, Oct. 16 -- The decomposed body of an unidentified youth was recovered from a canal beside a road leading to the crematorium from Motiganj in Santipur during the Durga Puja festivities, prompting police to investigate whether he was murdered and dumped there or died under other circumstances.
The body was spotted by passers-by, who alerted the police. Officers from Santipur police station reached the spot and recovered the remains before taking them to the police station for further investigation.
Locals suspect that the body had been lying in the canal for several days, as several parts of it had decomposed. The flesh on one of the hands was also missing, making it difficult to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death...
