Birbhum, Aug. 4 -- In the first major crackdown on law enforcement within the Tulu Mondal illegal assets case, the Birbhum Superintendent of Police transferred two sub-inspectors of the Mohammad Bazar police station to the Suri District Police Lines.
The punitive action against Sub-Inspectors Sanur Hussein and Abdul Alim came within 24 hours of a critical breakthrough, where police seized a diary from Sitesh Pramanik, the arrested manager of the fugitive businessman Tulu Mondal.
Sources reveal that the two sub-inspectors were close associates of Mondal. They allegedly used their positions at the police station to settle disputes in his favour, threatening common citizens to facilitate the forcible grabbing of their lands.
