Bengal: ACB trap at Haringhata DIB office: 2 civic volunteers caught red-handed over Rs 10,000 bribe

Krishnagar, Sept. 21 -- A routine passport verification turned into a corruption trap at Haringhata in West Bengal's Nadia district on Monday when two civic volunteers were allegedly caught red-handed accepting Rs 10,000 from an applicant, following an Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) operation.

The accused, identified as Raju Kirtaniya and Bandhan Debnath, were allegedly taking the money at the District Intelligence Bureau (DIB) office of Haringhata police station when ACB officials swooped down on them, a police official said.
