Kolkata, June 16 -- A close aide of Trinamool Congress's National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee was arrested early on Tuesday morning on several charges including abetment of suicide, police said.
Moidul Islam was arrested by a team from the Diamond Harbour police station.
The accused had accompanied Banerjee to the Enforcement Directorate's office in Salt Lake's CGO Complex on Monday when the Trinamool leader was grilled for 11 hours in connection with the alleged primary teachers' recruitment scam.
According to a senior officer of the Diamond Harbour police district, Islam was arrested on several charges including abetment to suicide and intimidation among others.
