Siliguri, Aug. 31 -- A 25-km greenfield corridor is set to come up in West Bengal's North Dinajpur district to provide an alternative route to Siliguri, bypassing Kishanganj in Bihar, Raiganj BJP MP Kartik Chandra Paul said.

The proposed corridor is expected to address a long-standing problem faced by people travelling between North Bengal and Siliguri.

At present, vehicles from Raiganj and other parts of North Bengal, as well as from South Bengal, often have to pass through Kishanganj to reach Siliguri.

According to Paul, the existing route causes delays as vehicles have to pass through another state, where they may face police checking and other formalities.
