Patna, Aug. 3 -- The history of the Bankipur Assembly constituency, where Jan Suraj founder leader Prashant Kishor on Monday finally opened his account after the by-elections, is a reflection of Bihar's evolving political landscape.
From producing two future Chief Ministers to electing renowned communist leaders, celebrated social figures and later becoming a stronghold of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bankipur has remained one of the state's most politically significant urban constituencies.
The constituency first came into prominence in 1962, when K B Sahay of the Congress was elected. Sahay later served as the Chief Minister of Bihar and is remembered as one of the state's most influential political leaders.
