Dhaka, Sept. 15 -- Bangladesh's International Crimes Tribunal on Tuesday sentenced seven leaders of the banned Awami League and its youth wings to death for crimes against humanity allegedly committed during the July-August mass uprising of 2024. Among those sentenced is former Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader.

A three-member tribunal headed by Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury delivered the verdict. Justice Md Manjurul Basid and Justice Noor Mohammad Shahriar Kabir were the other members of the bench, reports the Dhaka Tribune.

Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim confirmed the verdict.
