Dhaka, Sept. 24 -- The Bangladesh government has ordered the reconstitution and updation of government committees at the divisional, district and upazila level, with the process resulting in the elimination of all individuals aligned with the now-banned Awami League party from such committees.
A Prime Minister's Office (PMO) letter issued on August 18 instructed ministries, divisions, directorates, agencies and district administrations to review existing committees and update their membership, prioritising the reconstitution of 98 committees headed by deputy commissioners.
The directive itself does not name the Awami League or any other political party, instead calling for relevant stakeholders to be represented.
