Kathmandu, March 27 -- A new political era begins in Nepal: 35-year-old Balendra "Balen" Shah was sworn in as the nation's 47th Prime Minister on Friday, becoming one of the youngest leaders ever to assume the top position.

Known for his journey from rapper and structural engineer to Kathmandu mayor, Shah's meteoric rise underscores a sweeping desire for change in Nepali politics.
