Bengaluru, June 16 -- Senior India spin bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule has backed teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi following his involvement in an on-field altercation during the India A versus Sri Lanka A tri-series match in Dambulla, saying the youngster was provoked but needs to learn from the incident.

Speaking ahead of India's second ODI against Afghanistan in Lucknow, Bahutule described the 15-year-old as a composed player and said he was unlikely to lose his cool without reason.

"It was an unfortunate incident, but we don't know how it was provoked. The way I know Vaibhav, he is a very composed boy," Bahutule said.
