Macau (China), June 15 -- With India's top badminton stars PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty skipping the Macau Open 2026, the onus will fall onthe country's emerging players to make an impact when the tournament begins on Tuesday.
Tharun Mannepalli will lead the men's singles contingent while the women's singles draw will feature Isharani Baruah. Both Mannepalli and Baruah were also named in the recently announced Indian badminton team for the Asian Games 2026.
Mannepalli made it to the semi-finals of the Macau Open last year. Experienced Kiran George is also in the fray, according to olympics.com.
India's women's singles challenge also features Anmol Kharb and former junior world No. 1 Tasnim Mir.
