Badaun, April 14 -- In a major breakthrough in the HPCL plant double murder case, police in Badaun arrested a wanted accused carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 after a late-night encounter on Monday.
The accused, Abhay Pratap Singh, who had been absconding since the March 12 killing of two officials, was injured in both legs during the exchange of fire. A constable, Prashant Kumar, was also injured in the firing. Police also arrested Abhay's brother, Shivam Pratap Singh.
The operation was carried out under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Ankita Sharma. The team included Additional SP Abhishek Kumar Singh and Circle Officer Rajneesh Kumar Upadhyay, along with local police and SWAT/SOG units.
