Badaun, March 13 -- Police in Badaun conducted a "half-encounter" with the accused in the murder of two Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) officials.
The accused contractor, Ajay Pratap Singh, allegedly shot dead DGM Sudhir Gupta (55) and Assistant Manager Harshit Mishra (35) earlier this week.
During an operation to recover the weapon used in the crime, the accused reportedly opened fire on the police team after retrieving a loaded pistol from bushes in a forest area on Friday.
Police returned fire, injuring him in both legs. He was later taken to the district hospital for treatment.
