Jhansi, April 10 -- Police have busted a gang involved in GST fraud worth around Rs 1 crore and arrested its mastermind, a B.Tech graduate in Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh.
The accused, Virendra Kumar, was living in Rohini, Delhi, and is originally a resident of Sirsa, Haryana, officials said on Friday.
According to police, Kumar targeted poor and drug-addicted youths by luring them with small amounts of money. He used their identities to obtain SIM cards and prepare fake documents. These were then used to create bogus firms and fraudulently claim Input Tax Credit (ITC).
