New Delhi, Aug. 24 -- The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Ayush, has introduced a six-month certificate programme aimed at training community-level maternal healthcare support workers, with admissions now open for the 2026-27 academic session, said the officials from the Ministry on Monday.
Called the "Garbhini Mitra Course", the programme seeks to create a trained workforce capable of providing health education, lifestyle guidance and non-clinical support to women during pregnancy and the postnatal period.
The institute said the initiative is intended to complement, and not replace, routine antenatal care provided by qualified medical professionals.
