Birmingham, July 14 -- Axar Patel delivered a match-winning allround performance, claiming career-best figures of four wickets before returning with an unbeaten half-century as India defeated England by six wickets in the opening ODI of the three-match series at Edgbaston on Tuesday.
The left-arm spinner first starred with the ball, returning career-best figures of 4 for 62 to derail England's late resurgence. He broke the crucial 121-run seventh-wicket partnership between Joe Root and Liam Dawson by dismissing Dawson for 68 before cleaning up the tail, accounting for Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid and Josh Tongue as England were bowled out for 258 in 47.5 overs.
