Mumbai, Sept. 1 -- Daily travel and household fuel costs increased across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region from Tuesday as revised fares for CNG-powered auto-rickshaws and black-and-yellow taxis came into effect on the same day that Mahanagar Gas Limited raised the prices of CNG and domestic piped natural gas.

The combined increases are expected to add to the daily expenses of millions of commuters and households across Mumbai and neighbouring areas.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority approved the revised fares for CNG-powered auto-rickshaws and black-and-yellow taxis operating across the MMR. The new rates apply to Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan, Mira-Bhayander and other areas within the metropolitan region.
