New Delhi, July 15 -- India's automobile industry posted a strong performance in the first quarter of the current financial year, with passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles and three-wheelers recording their highest-ever April-June sales, supported by lower GST rates, affordable financing and steady domestic demand.

According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), released here on Wednesday, passenger vehicle sales rose 25.9 per cent year-on-year to a record 12.74 lakh units during the April-June quarter of FY2026-27.
