Australia to deploy first overseas forward arming and refuelling point in New Zealand

Wellington, Sept. 4 -- Australia will deploy a forward arming and refuelling point (FARP) outside the country for the first time as part of joint military exercises with New Zealand, the New Zealand Defence Ministry said on Friday.

"The exercises include the RAAF establishing an overseas Forward Arming and Refuelling Point (FARP) for the first time outside Australia," New Zealand Air Force Chief Air Vice-Marshal Darryn Webb said.

Two Australian F-35A Lightning II fighter jets are due to arrive in New Zealand next week for the exercises, marking the aircraft's first visit to the country.
