Chennai, July 1 -- A major political controversy has erupted in Tamil Nadu and in what Is seen as attempts to topple the nascent TVK government of Chief Minister Vijay, police on Wednesday arrested three people for trying to poach a ruling TVk MLA with a bribe offer of Rs 35 crore to switch sides during the confidence vote.

The arrests were made following a complaint lodged by TVK Legislator Dr N Iayaraja, elected from Uthangarai constituency in Krishnagiri district of the State.

In his complaint, Ilayaraja said one Thirunavukarasu, who was running a poll survey firm Indian Political Democratic Strategies (IDPS), spoke to him a few days back and asked to vote against the confidence vote in the Assemblu and offered a bribe of RS 35 crore....
