Manila, July 23 -- External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that attacks targeting seafarers, civilian shipping, or critical infrastructure cannot be tolerated, stressing the need to uphold maritime safety and international laws during the 21st East Asia Summit in Manila.

Addressing leaders at the summit, Jaishankar called for diplomatic engagement and constructive dialogue to resolve ongoing tensions in West Asia and the Gulf region. He reiterated India's position on ensuring safe and unrestricted navigation through international waterways and respecting established global legal frameworks.

"Under no circumstances can attacks on seafarers, civilian shipping or infrastructure be countenanced," Jaishankar said.
