New Delhi, April 9 -- Voting is underway across Kerala, Assam and Puducherry in a single-phase Assembly election that is set to test the strength, strategy and staying power of the country's major political parties.
Voting will continue until the evening, while the results - keenly awaited by political parties and observers alike - will be declared on May 4.
In Assam, the stakes are particularly high. The 126-member Assembly election sees the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) aiming for a third consecutive term, banking on its governance record and leadership under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
