Itanagar, Aug. 25 -- The Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Arunachal Pradesh Police, apprehended an active cadre of the NSCN (R) in the general area of Khonsa in Tirap district.
The operation was launched on Monday based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of an insurgent cadre in the area, police sources said on Tuesday.
The apprehended individual was identified as Jeetu Saikia alias Tuwang Lowang (34), a resident of Makum Tila under Margherita Police Station in Tinsukia district of Assam. He was reportedly operating as a self-styled 2nd Lieutenant of the NSCN (R).
