Guwahati, Feb. 26 -- The Assam Cabinet today decided to request the Gauhati High Court for institution of a fast-track court so that the day-to-day hearing of the case of murder of Zubeen Garg could be held.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said this during a media briefing after the Cabinet meeting. He said that the Gauhati High court will provide a judge exclusively for the case while the state government would make the logistical arrangement for the fast-track court.
The Chief Minister also hailed the current judge dealing with the case for not granting bails to the accused considering it as a rare case.
