Nagoya, Sept. 30 -- China's Zhang Shuai and Wang Xiyu advanced to the women's singles semifinals and Wu Yibing reached the men's singles quarterfinals at the Aichi-Nagoya AsianGames here on Wednesday.
In the women's singles quarterfinals, fourth-seeded Wang battled past Japan's Moyuka Uchijima6-4, 3-6, 6-1.
"Representing my country at the Asian Games is a great opportunity for me. The matches will get tougher from here, but I hope I can stay determined and take it one step at a time," said Wang, who is competing at the Asian Games for the first time.
Wang will face top-seeded Alexandra Eala of the Philippines in the semifinals. Eala defeated Chinese Taipei's Joanna Garland 7-5, 6-0 in her quarterfinal.
