New Delhi, Aug. 24 -- Rohan Bopanna has criticised the sports ministry's decision to reduce India's tennis contingent for the 2026 Asian Games in Japan from 12 players to seven, questioning the exclusion of several leading women's players.
The revised squad means Sahaja Yamalapalli, Vaishnavi Adkar and Vaidehee Chaudhari will miss the continental event, which begins on September 17. Prarthana Thombare and Manas Dhamne have also been left out.
The All India Tennis Association (AITA) had initially proposed a 12-member squad comprising six women. However, the final list includes only two female players - Ankita Raina and Rutuja Bhosale.
