Bengaluru, July 15 -- Karnataka Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka on Wednesday escalated the BJP's offensive against the Congress government, petitioning Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot to stall the state's proposed Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) policy and ordering an independent probe into the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede, alleging the government was pursuing an "unconstitutional vote-bank agenda" while attempting to shield those responsible for the tragedy.
Leading a BJP delegation to Raj Bhavan, Ashoka submitted a detailed memorandum urging the Governor to intervene against the proposed PRC scheme, contending that the state government lacked the constitutional authority to issue such certificates.
