Macau, June 19 -- Ashmita Chaliha made her first semi-final on the BWF World Tour in over two years at the Macau Open 2026 badminton tournament on Friday.
Competing in the women's singles, Ashmita, 63rd in the badminton rankings, beat world No. 99 Kim Min Sun of the Republic of Korea 21-16, 21-18 in 37 minutes at the Macao East Asian Games Dome.
The Indian badminton player will take on another South Korean shuttler, Park Ga-eun, in the semi-finals on Saturday.
It will be Ashmita's second-ever semis appearance on the BWF World Tour and the first since the 2024 Thailand Masters, according to olympics.com.
