New Delhi, Aug. 7 -- Mohammed Ashfaq broke his own national U20 record in the men's 400m to qualify for the semifinals at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene.
The 19-year-old clocked 45.81 seconds to finish second in Heat 5 behind USA's Jayden DeLeon, who won the race in 45.63 seconds. Ashfaq's effort also placed him fourth overall in the first round.
Ashfaq's latest performance bettered his previous national U20 record of 46.05 seconds, which he had set earlier this season in April.
