Itanagar, April 1 -- Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday announced a landmark initiative for winter sports and tourism in the stateTaking to the social media platform X, the Chief Minister informed that the State will be hosting the first-ever Open National Ski Mountaineering Championship, alongside an inaugural Ski and Snowboarding Training Programme.

Describing it as a historic moment, Khandu said the event marks the beginning of organized snow sports in the Northeast, positioning Arunachal Pradesh as an emerging destination for winter tourism.

The training camp is scheduled to be held from April 5 to 14, followed by the championship on April 15.
