Itanagar, Aug. 22 -- A 24-year-old youth has been sentenced to 20 years' rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and repeatedly sexually assaulting a minor girl by the Special Judge (POCSO)-cum-Additional District & Sessions Judge, Basar, in Arunachal Pradesh's Leparada district,The judgment was pronounced on August 21 by Special Judge Jaweplu Chai in POCSO Case No. 02/2024, arising out of Daporijo Police Station Case No. 22/2024. The accused, Deepak Debnath, was convicted under Section 363 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
