Itanagar, March 18 -- In a significant judgment delivered on March 16, the Court of Special Judge (POCSO), Basar, in Arunachal Pradesh's Leparada district convicted and sentenced a man in connection with a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
Presiding over the case, Special Judge Jaweplu Chai found the accused guilty under Section 6 of the POCSO Act and awarded rigorous imprisonment for 20 years along with a fine of Rs 20,000. In default of payment, the convict will undergo an additional six months of simple imprisonment.
