Itanagar, June 5 -- In a major anti-drug enforcement initiative, the authorities destroyed 2,911.821 kilograms of seized narcotic substances worth approximately Rs 14.55 crore at Balemu in West Kameng district on Thursday, official sources said on Friday.
The destruction was carried out by the West Kameng Police in coordination with allied agencies, in compliance with the orders of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court, Bomdila.
State Home Minister Mama Natung said the disposal of the seized contraband reflects the state government's firm resolve to combat drug abuse and trafficking in Arunachal Pradesh.
