Itanagar, March 27 -- In a significant step towards promoting clean energy and reducing dependency on LPG, the Arunachal Pradesh Government commissioned a biogas plant at the Central Cattle Breeding Farm (CCBF), Nirjuli on Friday.

The 2x15 cubic metre (30 CuM) biogas plant, comprising two units, was fast-tracked under the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary & Dairy Development (AHV&DD) following the direction of Minister Gabriel D Wangsu. The project was commissioned with support from Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA).

The CCBF, Nirjuli, houses around 150 cattle, generating approximately 5-6 quintals of cow dung daily. While the waste was earlier used primarily as manure, it is now being converted into clean bioga...
