New Delhi, May 5 -- The Ministry of Defence on Tuesday signed a Rs 1,476 crore contract with Bharat Electronics Limited for the procurement of five Ground-Based Mobile Electronic Systems for the Indian Army, further boosting indigenous military capability and strengthening India's defence manufacturing ecosystem.

The contract was signed with BEL's Hyderabad unit under the Buy (Indian-Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh at Kartavya Bhawan-2 in the national capital.
