Washington, Sept. 1 -- Daniel Driscoll has stepped down as US Secretary of the Army after a prolonged rift with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, amid disagreements over Army modernization and senior military leadership.
The White House did not dispute reports of Driscoll's resignation when asked about it, although it remains unclear whether his resignation has been formally accepted.
A White House spokeswoman praised Driscoll's tenure, saying he had strengthened military readiness and contributed to negotiations aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine war. The Army declined to comment.
