Kolkata, Aug. 23 -- A day after quitting the Indian Secular Front (ISF), former party leader Arabul Islam's car was allegedly attacked with bricks and crude bombs in West Bengal's Bhangar area, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place on Saturday night in Uriapara, under the Polerhat police station area of South 24 Parganas, when Islam was returning home from a hospital.

According to police sources, unidentified miscreants allegedly hurled bricks and crude bombs at Islam's vehicle. No immediate information was available regarding any injuries or damage in the incident.

Police have launched an investigation to identify those responsible for the alleged attack and ascertain the motive behind it.
