Appointment of 'preferred choice' as Odisha DGP smacks of 'conspiracy, collusion': SC told

Parmod KumarNew Delhi, Sept. 22 -- The process for appointment of the Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) smacked of "conspiracy and collusion" to disqualify three senior-most officers of DGP rank and pave the way for the State government's "preferred choice", an Additional DGP-rank officer, to head the police force in the State, the Supreme Court was told on Tuesday.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohana was told that senior officers otherwise eligible for consideration had allegedly been sought to be excluded from the selection process to facilitate the appointment of the State government's preferred candidate.
