Cupertino, Sept. 2 -- Apple has renamed Lake Ontario as "Lake America" in its Maps app for users in the US, following an order by US President Donald Trump in the wake of the ongoing trade dispute with Canada.
The change applies only to US-based users, while those in Canada will continue to see the waterbody labelled Lake Ontario.
Apple's move follows Trump's executive order directing the US government to rename the lake after trade talks between Washington and Ottawa collapsed late last month. The breakdown was followed by the US imposing new 50% tariffs on $20 billion (£14.8 billion; C$28 billion) worth of Canadian goods.
