New Delhi, June 7 -- In a milestone for Jharkhand's horticulture sector, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has facilitated the first commercial export of fresh mangoes from the state to the United Kingdom, opening new international market opportunities for local farmers and women-led producer groups.

The inaugural consignment, comprising 1.5 metric tonnes of premium Amrapali mangoes, was flagged off from Kolkata on June 4 and is destined for London. The shipment was sourced from Beura Farmer Producer Company Ltd., an all-women farmer producer company based in Bano block of Simdega district, and exported by Kolkata-based JGB Agrofresh Pvt. Ltd.
