Vijayawada, May 29 -- Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan on Friday directed officials to be on "high alert" in the wake of reports regarding a tiger on the prowl preying on cattle in Polavaram district over the past few days.
He held a meeting with the forest officials and reviewed the steps being taken to trap the tiger which strayed into a cattle shed at Chakkiligintha village and killed 9 calves.
Pawan Kalyan suggested that surveillance systems equipped with modern technology be deployed to monitor tiger movements. He further directed that residents of villages bordering the forest be kept informed of tiger movements on a regular basis and alerted accordingly.
