Vijayawada, March 16 -- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu unveiled a 58 ft bronze statue of freedom fighter Potti Sriramulu at Shakamuru in the Capital city Amaravati region on MondayHe unveiled the 58-ft bronze statue on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Potti Sriramulu who fasted to death in 1952 to press the demand for the creation of a Telugu speaking State which was later carved out from the then Madras Presidency.

The first phase of this project, undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 150 crore has been completed on 6.80 acres of land.
