Ongole, Feb. 25 -- Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has reiterated that the Veligonda Project will be completed by July this year and irrigation water will be provided to Markapur district.
The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the Veligonda Project feeder canal lining works worth Rs 456 crore at Ghantavanipalle in Dornala mandal of Markapuram district on Wednesday.
Later, addressing a public meeting, the Chief Minister recalled that he fulfilled his promise of carving out Markapur district. By creating Markapuram a district, people no longer need to travel 150 km to Ongole for administrative work, he said, adding that justice has been done to the long-neglected backward region.
