Visakhapatnam, Sept. 25 -- The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has intensified relief and restoration operations in areas affected by heavy rain and strong winds following Severe Cyclonic Storm 'Arnab', with 180 of the 187 reported rain-related incidents resolved as of 5 pm on Friday.
GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said all departments were kept on high alert as rainfall and strong winds continued even after the cyclone crossed the coast on Thursday morning.
The Visakhapatnam District Collector and GVMC Special Officer reviewed the situation and directed officials to expedite relief and restoration works.
Teams from various GVMC departments worked in coordination with the NDRF, APEPDCL and Rapid Response Teams.
