Kakinada, June 12 -- In a first-of-its-kind initiative in Andhra Pradesh, ten contract home guards have been appointed for traffic regulation duties in Tuni town to help ease traffic congestion and support the local police force.

The appointment letters were distributed by Tuni MLA Yanamala Divya at a function held on Friday.

The initiative was taken after consultations with District Superintendent of Police Garikipati Bindu Madhav and senior police officials, with support from Deccan fine chemical India company MD KVLP RajuAlong with the appointment letters, the MLA presented uniforms and helmets to the newly recruited contract home guards.
