Guntur, May 12 -- The Railway Protection Force personnel opened 10 rounds of fire at suspected robbers on the railway track at Aluru railway gate, near Nidubrolu railway station of Ponnur mandal of this Andhra Pradesh district in the wee hours on Tuesday.

GRP DSP Akkeswara Rao told newspersons that an RPF weapon party was patrolling the railway track in the backdrop of robberies in the trains. They noticed two people moving suspiciously on the railway track, and the RPF personnel suspected that they were trying to snap the signal line to stop a passenger train. When the RPF weapon party was nearing the miscreants, they started hurling stones at them.
